I don't know exactly what it is, but Memorial Day Monday, no matter how it falls on the school calendar, marks the official beginning of Summer for me.
Ah Summer... for me it's not really "down time".
June 15-26 - IMPACT team to Dominican Republic.
July 9-13 - Sr. High Summer Camp
July 18-19 - Programming Planning Retreat
July 23-25 - Pastors Retreat to Holland, MI
July 30-August 3 - Jr. High Summer Camp
Auguts - 6-9 - Time in Luddington with my family
August 9-11 - Preteen Camp (I'll probably only be out for the days).
Add it all up, I will spend a total of 26 nights spent in a bed other than my home.
Not to mention working with the SOAR guys for Round Tables on Sunday morning, Spirit and Truth on Sunday Nights, House Groups on Wednesday Nights.
Also, preparing the Preteen, Jr. High, and Sr. High Programs for the Fall and Spring.
Man, now that I wrote that all down, I'm a little overwhelmed!
Even though it seems packed, there's something about Summer that brings a change of pace, even if there isn't much "down time."
Maybe it also has to do with the several experiences (IMPACT, Camp) where I get extended "away" time with students. In this time we get to truly focus in on relationships with each other, and our relationship with God.
The increase in temperature, and the late hours of daylight don't hurt too much either!!!
