Just finished watching The Benchwarmers... Jon Heder is one funny dude. I'm a little embarrassed to say I really enjoyed this movie. I turned my brain off for an hour and 30 minutes, and laughed. Not the greatest Baseball movie ever, so that got me thinking. There's a lot of Baseball movies out there... wikipedia lists 67 of them.
Here's my top 5 Baseball movies.
5. The Natural - I think this was the first baseball movie I ever watched. I can picture myself sitting about 5 feet from the TV, watching Roy Hobbs round the bases as the sparks from the shattered lights fall onto the field.
4. Fever Pitch - I know it's not really about baseball... it's really more about life as a crazed baseball fan. "They'll break your heart kid." It was so timely. As a Cubs fan, there's a little part of me that feels a connection with the Boston Red Sox fan.
3. Field Of Dreams - "If you build it, he will come." One of 2 Kevin Costner movies I actually like (the Untouchables is the other one).
2. The Rookie - A little slow moving, yes. But a great feel-good story. Based on a true story. Some good laughs, and, yes, I shed a tear or two every time I watch it.
1. The Sandlot - Wendy Peffercorn, the Beast, "for-ever, for-ever," "You're killing me Smalls" "You play ball like a GIRL!" Great movie
