Who is this Ghost Called Holy Part 1 - Wednesday Night Follow-up

You've heard him referred to by various names... Holy Ghost, the Spirit, Holy Spirit.
The mystery of the trinity is this... 3 Unique, Distinct persons, 1 God.

In the 5 follow-ups (today, Friday, Saturday, Monday, Tuesday) to Wednesday Night's lesson, we will be looking at the Person of the Holy Spirit.

READING: John 14:15-19; John 14:7-15 (click on the passages to read them online)
In these passage, Jesus is speaking of the promised Holy Spirit.

As you read through it, think through/ journal on the following questions:

• What statements or words JUMP out at you in these passages, and why?
• Based off what you've read in these passages, who is the Holy Spirit and why is He important to you and I?

Wednesday Night, I gave a few characteristics concerning the Holy Spirit.

Here is a more detailed list:
1.) He is A PERSON with MIND, WILL, and EMOTIONS.

2.) He is FULLY GOD. (Part of the trinity, one of the expressions of the person of God.)

Father: Came up with the plan
Son: Executed the plan perfectly
Spirit: Fully reveals and fulfills the plan in us.

3.)He was present in both the OLD and NEW TESTAMENT.

*The big difference is that in the Old Testament, the Holy Spirit came ON people. His dwelling place was in the Holy of Holies in the Tabernacle, and then the Temple. When Jesus died on the Cross, the temple curtain was torn in two. This curtain was what seperated the Holy of Holies. The curtain was torn as a symbol to the new reality that the Holy Spirit was no longer going to dwell in the Temple, but instead take up residence IN believers in Christ. We bacame the temple.
4.) He is JUST LIKE JESUS.
5.) He INDWELLS and GIFTS every believer for ministry..
6.) His goal is to MAKE US CHRIST-LIKE.

Take some time to review this list and consider how the Holy Spirit is at work in you. Are you not blown away by the fact that the Living God is in you? What are the implications on your everyday life?
