I randomly typed in www.christmas.com today.
Guess what came up (check it out)?
How much do I, as one who claims to be a Christ Follower, look to these season with shopping, spending, giving, receiving.
As I've been typing these thoughts on Christmas, I've been a little overwhelmed on the materialism, commercialization, and all around loss of focus I've gotten concerning this season. I've probably spent more money on gifts this year than any other. Don't get me wrong, there is something very healthy about giving to the ones you love, but is that best summed up in a sweater, popcorn popper, Chicago Cubs baby outfit, grill, Nintendo DS, or wireless internet router (sorry to my family members, I just spilled the beans on some potential gifts)?
I'm challenged today to let my giving be more about time, love, care, help, encouragement, support, and prayer than it is about materials.
