I'm bothered, ticked, and burdened.

On this site, you can purchase hair, razor, 1/2 full red bull can, and lighter from the famed Britney Spears head shaving incident. Beginning bid... $1 million dollars.

Here's why I'm bothered: We are sick as consumers. Somebody will likely pay a ton (not sure it will be a million) for this. What exactly has Britney Spears done to deserve this much attention.

Here's why I'm ticked: Did you know that this past weekend the House and Senate held significant special sessions to weigh in on President Bush's proposal for more troops in Iraq (story here). Did you know that this past weekend Britney Spears shaved her head? Did you know which story was on the Front Page of the NY Times, and was the leading story on the News Stations? AMERICA, WAKE UP!!!

Here's why I'm burdened: Britney Spears is a human being. She's 25 years old, and the lights are way too bright on her. I can't even begin to imagine what my life would look like if I was under the same public scrutiny she is. As I scanned the hair website, I was heartbroken, just thinking for a moment about a little girl on the Mickey Mouse Club who is clearly in an extreme emotionally dark time.

Is Britney of victim of her own poor choices? Yup.
So am I in many areas of my life. I just don't have 80 million people watching my every move.

I know this may sound stupid, but I decided tonight that whenever I see a story about her, I'm going to take a moment to pray for Britney and her two children; Sean and Jayden.
