Good Times

(pic compliments of Corey, you can check out more from last night here.)

Had a great time last night. Came out of James 2... "faith without deeds is dead."

Personal "a-ha" moment, I've always wrestled with this passage of scripture as it pertains to Salvation.
Especially when I read v. 14

What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds?
Can such faith save him?

James 2 IS NOT about "What gets me saved?"
James 2 IS about "What salvation looks like."

It's by grace I'm saved, not through works. But my salvation... my faith in Christ will cause me to DO something.

The Wheelbarrow came out of this story...

The story is told of a great circus performer by the name of Blondin who stretched a long steel cable across Niagara Falls. During high winds and without a safety net, he walked, ran, and even danced across the tightrope to the amazement and delight of the large crowd of people who watched.

Once he took a wheelbarrow full of bricks and amazed the crowd by pushing it effortlessly across the cable, from one side of the falls to the other. Blondin then turned to the crowd and asked, “Now, how many of you believe that I could push a man across the wire in the wheelbarrow?”

The vote was unanimous. Everyone cheered and held their hands high. They all believed he could do it!

“Then,” asked Blondin, “would one of you please volunteer to be that man?”

As quickly as the hands went up, they went back down. Not a single person would volunteer to ride in the wheelbarrow and to trust his life to Blondin.

The wheelbarrow served as our "picture" of where we are being called to put our faith into action.

Some Highlights:
  • Trace's Honeymoon massage story. HILARIOUS.
  • There were 9 NMC guys who made the trip with me. I love when I can have NMC folks "come with" me.
  • We ate at Culver's afterward. Boo ya.
  • A little different standing on the stage with the Gigantor Screen and me up on the big screen. Very cool.
  • Seeing a wave of students say "I'm in" by taking a card, signing it, and throwing it in to a wheelbarrow.

Great time. I've said it before... I'll say it again. I love the leadership over at GCC. I value their friendship. I'm challenged by their efforts. I love playing on the same team as them.

Derry you rock man! Thanks so much for coming over to GCC and sharing your passion with us. Our kids loved it and I personally got a ton out of it. I can't wait to see the facebook trail of thoughts that go out from your message this past Sunday night. Godspeed man!

Your examples were awesome. You caught me with the Hinge one, Im not quite sure I would have taken it back. Then with the other three. I realized on Sunday, that Fear is holding me back from Fully, completely doing what God has called me to do. I really don't want to be afraid anymore. Thanks. Im so glad that God blessed all of us through you.

♥K.

I'm Also going to second that Traces honeymoon story was hilarious. Random, a bit innaproprate at times, but Hilarious none the less.
