First Wednesday Night of Next School year

We found ourselves in a unique spot tonight. Normally, the last Wednesday in May is a very rough one for us. School just out, programming doing very little, sun, summer setting in, etc. Honestly, this Wednesday on the Calendar tends to be a relaxed celebration night with as little amount of prep as possible going into the night (last year we showed a movie, two years ago, we honored our seniors... there were 65 students there, and 45 of them were Seniors!!).

There ended up being a lot of "Snow Days" over this year, and school is still going. We honored our grads on May 16, and officially transitioned them into the Young Ministry (College Age Bible Study on Tuesday Nights.)

So, this little mix of events creates a unique Wednesday Night. We haven't officially kicked into Summer Ministry with the SOAR interns running things, but the Seniors are gone..... so we are going to have our official "First Wednesday Night of the next School year" tonight.

The 8th graders (tonight we call them Freshmen) join us, and the Juniors (tonight we call them Seniors) are making plans to celebrate the incoming Freshmen. Seriously celebrate, no "initiation" or junk; but instead making sure the incoming Freshmen know that they are very welcome to come and be a part of this ministry.

Tonight, we will also look ahead to the next School year. We're going to talk about the "4 pillars" we are going to be the basis of what we are about. I rarely get prophetic in my presentation, but tonight I feel a little prophetic. I think we, as a Sr. High Ministry are at a significant turning point. I've never seen our Senior High Ministries more "spiritually dead" than right now, yet I'm more excited then over by the army I see rising up out of the current valley of dry bones.
