What I'm Reading
"Red Moon Rising" by Pete Grieg and Dave Roberts is the story of the 24-7 prayer movement that started among a less-than-likely group in England. Out of this movement, prayer groups, prayer rooms, and prayer vigils have popped up all over the world.
The book simply tells the story, but it also is a call to a new focus and vision when it comes to the need for prayer.
I'm about halfway through this book, and it's messing me up... in a good way.
I'm finding myself in dialog with God as I read.
I'm finding myself praying some dangerous prayers.
I'm find that I'm wrestling through some BIG "What Ifs".
I've already gotten several copies to get to my fellow staff members, key leaders, and key students.

What I'm Watching
Right now, this very moment, I'm watching Seinfeld.
It's the episode where...
- Elaine's boyfriend stops everything once he hears Desperado.
- Jerry claims he invented the umbrella twirl.
- George has the Sunshine Carpet Cleaners cult visit him, and gets upset that they don't try to convert them.
- Jerry gets tons of checks from Japan for the "Super Happy Fun Hour".
- Kramer takes some Japanese tourists around the city.
- Kramer has the tourists sleep in his oversized chest that Elaine's boyfriend gave him.
What I'm Listening to
Rich Mullins was a poet. His music style is not on the top of my list, but his lyrical style just resonates with me. Yesterday, when I went out for a walk, I hit my I-pod to play all Mullins songs. The song "Promises" hit, and the chorus rang true to me... I think I started singing out... probably looked like an idiot.
"If I stand let me stand on the promise that You will pull me through,
And if I can't let me fall on the grace that first brought me to You,
If I sing let me sing for the joy that has born in me these songs,
And if I can't let me fall on the grace that first brought me to You,
If I sing let me sing for the joy that has born in me these songs,
but if I weep let it be as a man who is longing for his home."

that is my favorite mullins song.
I love Rich and this song, too..and at the risk of being an anal retentive proofreader, the title is "If I Stand". My favorite of his is probably "Bound to come some trouble" or "Hard To Get", off his very last one before his death. Love the salvation story, too....it does us good to remember the journey, so we don't forget why we do it when it gets hard...
