Time to shut the brain off, wind the body down...

I have been going at warp speed for the past month. The week leading into NYGO, the 10 days in New York, the 7 days leading into Camp, the 7 days at Sr./Jr. High Camp have been absolutely worth the time and effort.
God is stirring and moving in our midst in a refreshing and challenging manner. I feel so many things stirring in me and us that I feel like I have to keep going. There's a week long 24/7 prayer lineup to be formed. There are tons of follow-up contacts to be made. There's a Fall Sunday and Wednesday program to be planned...

So the most logical thing to do is to shut down for a while...

A passage of scripture I often return to is Mark 6. Jesus commissions and sends out the 12 by twos to go and drive out evil spirits and heal the sick (v. 7-12).

When they return to report their happenings to Jesus, we read...

30The apostles gathered around Jesus and reported to him all they had done and taught. 31Then, because so many people were coming and going that they did not even have a chance to eat, he said to them, "Come with me by yourselves to a quiet place and get some rest." 32So they went away by themselves in a boat to a solitary place.

I head into the office on Monday and Tuesday to tie up a few loose ends, then Janelle and I head to the lake for about 6 days. Our goal... as the title says, shut the brain off, and wind the body down. A few things I'll be doing...
  1. Taking a day of silence. No talking, no listening to music... probably a lot of reading. I've done a lot of talking and listening to others over the past month. It's time to do know talking, and a lot of listening to my soul, and more importantly my Soul's Provider.
  2. Reading a lot. Some mindless stuff, some to feed my soul.
  3. Focusing on my wife. Although the two of us have been around each other the past month, we haven't spent much time together.
  4. Hanging with friends. We have several friends near where we are staying. I'm going to make every effort to not talk "business", but instead talk life.
  5. Fish, float, soak in rays, ride a wave runner. Have fun. Have a ton of fun.
Over the next few days, there will likely be a few more posts. But there will be a "blogcation" starting Wednesday, July 25.
