I needed that...

You've heard me talk about the prayer room at Summer Camp. I've told you that we've set one up here at NMC through the end of September.

Now let me tell you one of the reasons why I love it so much...

I love the interactive nature the prayer room brings. First, it allows me to go on a bit more interactive personal prayer journey with God. I can sculpt, write, draw, sing, and dance my prayers. Secondly, although I'm personally interacting with God, I'm able to interact with the prayers of others. As I walk into a room where others have written out their prayers, I'm able to join in their journeys...
echo their prayers
pray for what others have written
be challenged by others' prayers
be encouraged by others' prayers

This week is a big one for me involving some significant issues to be wrestled through. This morning I walked into the prayer room with these things heavy on my heart.
I had a seat over by the "Be With" wall... an area where you can write the initials of friends and family members you would like pray for. After I spent some time wrestling with God, I looked up and right in front of me read "Be with D.P. and J.P."...

I continued to read a prayer that had been written down for D.P. and J.P. As I read, it was asking God for the type of peace, comfort, wisdom and assurance that these two people I know who happened to be named Derry Prenkert and Janelle Prenkert. I took a little time to laugh at the miraculous moment, then cry, then let God know that I would trust him, move forward, and not be driven by fear. Whoever wrote that prayer up for my wife and I, God heard it when you wrote it, and he answered it today when I walked into that prayer room!

If you think you're not invited to come over to the YMC LL and pray, you're wrong. Monday-Friday 5:00 am-9:00 pm Saturday- Sunday 6:00 am-9:00 pm.
