At Risk or on the verge of Breakthrough?

You know, there is a stark reality about how at risk the Next Generation is. Just read
  • about teens sexual habits here,
  • A ridiculously depressing story of a lost life here,
  • Drug and alcohol tendancies here,
  • the issues facing teens here.

All that junk going on, and I walk in this morning to receive an email from my Senior Pastor telling me two of our students stopped by his house last night because they felt led to pray for him.
I also just read this
post from my evangelist friend about an email he received from a student.

I actually just came out of a meeting where the focus was on the church's responsibility toward the next generation. The truth that we found ourselves clinging to was that in the midst of the darkness, the light can and will shine even brighter.

I refuse to believe this generation is heading to hell. In fact, I believe just the opposite. I believe we could see the most active, revolutionary, kingdom minded followers of Christ emerge in the next 10, 15, 20 years.

Derry,
I sent the Breakpoint article on teen sex on to the rest of my family. That was very enlightening. It is only through the grace of God and the community of believers coming along side that we can truly achieve inward change.

Derry,

we are up to our armpits in this. I am meeting this Sunday with some parents who are not sure about whether they want to get themselves involved in redeeming the culture of their children, instead they seem to be choosing to stay comfortable in the Christian greenhouse of bible knowledge and spiritual growth devoid of outer pollutants.
we know how to pray for one another!
