I'm not that important

I knew that when I planned a vacation in the middle of October that we would be gone during what is commonly the most hectic time of our ministry year.

Often, during the busy times, it becomes easy to think that it's all about you.

As I returned home to my 250 emails (which, after taking out spam shrunk to around 75), I realized that I wasn't missed too much. What I mean is that things were able to go on here without me.
  • Nothing fell apart.
  • Last Wednesday Night was awesome. Everyone on all fronts stepped it up.
  • We had some significant "divine appointments" with both students and leaders take place.
  • God is still being glorified.
  • We have a great night ahead of us.
So does that mean I'm worthless here?
Should we eliminate my job?
Nope... but in busy times isn't it so tempting to think that your world would fall apart if it wasn't for you?
It happens to me all the time.
I'm convinced I can't turn my cell phone off during the movie or in the evening in case somebody needs me.
I have to check my email on my day off just to make sure nothing is missed.
I have to know what's going on in everything.

Today somebody reminded me about the little statement I wrote under my profile on the top corner of this blog.

Who cares if I'm significant? I just want to be a part of something significant.

I am a part of something very significant here. I'm grateful for that. I'm also excited to know there are many others who are a part of this as well. In the end, I'm no more important than they are.
I rejoice in that.
