Romans 12:12

Tonight, we met with our Small Group Leaders. We took some time to meditate and interact with Romans 12:12 as it pertains to the students we work with:

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.

Cindi Lantz did a fantastic job leading us as we considered what and where we can be rejoicing in the hope we have in the students we work with.

Someone once challenged me in youth ministry to not get caught up in where a student is at, but always in where they can be. It was a way of letting me know to be joyful in hope.

While on break, I was encouraged as a former NMC student mentioned what a profound impact was made through the leaders who displayed patience and persistence in the midst of his shortcomings... patient in affliction.

If we get one thing right this year, it's going to be prayer. I have a deep desire in me right now to see our students fall in love with the Word of God... maybe I should be persistent in prayer about that!

All that to say, I think this verse gives those in ministry 3 valuable attitudes and actions to keep in mind as we duke it out.
