Barbaric Parenting Advice (Part 3 of 6)

Not long ago, Aaron asked me, "Dad, would you purposely put us in danger?"
"Yes," I answered. "Of Course."
Without blinking an eye his response was simply "That's what I thought. I was just making sure."
-Erwin McManus in reference to a conversation with his son

Personal observation/ question... Far too many of us believe the ultimate goal is "safety first" in life, Christianity, and especially parenting. Is it?
Personally, I want to nurture and let my child(ren) know that their dad is going to watch out for them. I also want my child(ren) to know that I will run after Jesus wherever He's calling me to follow Him, and I want them to be free to do the same. If I'm reading my Bible correctly, that path will likely be dangerous at some point.

Easy to say when I have a 3 month old who can't even crawl. Far different when they can walk, drive, run, and make their own decisions!
