In our IMPACT Mexico team training, we have listened to two CD's by Tim Elmore. One on Intimacy with God, and one on the Personal Disciplines of Prayer, Fasting, and Bible Study.
On the Personal Disciplines CD, Elmore tells the story of Missionaries who were traveling to a remote village. With the rugged pace they were running to get to their spot, their African guides pulled up to rest. The Missionaries voiced their desire to press on, but the guides refused. The reason they would not continue, was that they needed to rest so their souls needed to catch up with their bodies.
Bingo. That statement (made by non-Christians, oddly enough) is so biblical. The discipline of sabbath rest is so key.

- One of the best series we've ever done on Wednesday Night.
- India Trip.
- Sunday Morning Preaching.

This has included...
- Lots of sleep.
- Lots of time at coffee houses.
- Lots of time connecting with students and leaders in casual environments.
- Lots of time with Janelle and Katylynn.

Still kickin it with Tim Elmore I see. Keep it real, old school.
So, hypothetically, would you say that after a week of ministry in an unfamiliar, high altitude region and a subsequent trek through a riotous mountain pass, would it be more spiritual to stay up late talking or to let your body catch up with your soul with a good night's rest?
I mean, hypothetically.
That's not funny, Dave.
