Wednesday Night Recap

Nights like tonight are always a little tough. Because of our location on a main road that tends to be kept clean, and the broad range from which people come, we will rarely cancel because of weather. Whoever feels they can make it comes.

So, tonight there were significantly less students than normal, BUT it was a great night!

Tonight was week 4 of 5 in our TAWG series. The first three weeks...

Week 1 - Time... We looked at the importance of approaching out TAWG with Patience and making the time a priority.
Week 2 - Alone... Alison challenged us to consider whether or not we are willing to OWN our relationship with God.
Week 3 - With God... When people look at us and how we live our lives, would they be able to "take note that we have been with Jesus" (Acts 4:13)

Tonight was called a "Learning Lab." Rather than having a message or worship time, we took students through a guided Time Alone With God.

We looked at three key components... the PB&J of TAWG

Prayer
Bible
Journal

We gave practical steps to each of this 3 key components, then practiced those practical steps. A few things that happened in the night that got me pretty pumped up...
  • Students were able to walk away from the night saying "I got to spend time alone with God." That's cool.
  • There were likely several students who, for the first time tonight, read their Bible on their own and applied it to their life.
  • As we looked at Journaling, we were able to break down the myths for some of the students (especially males) who have convinced themselves that journaling is not for them.
  • Students were able to see how they can incorporate personal worship into their TAWG. As we took time to pray prayers of adoration, we did it through song (How Great Is Our God).
