Last night was Katylynn and my first Daddy/ Daughter Date Night. We went to the Elkhart Sports Center to watch some of our High School guys and Leaders play in the league they are a part of. The guys were insistent that Katylynn's first game be theirs. When I informed them that she had already been to two games, they then decided that her first daddy/daughter date was acceptable.
Although it wasn't a very long date, and the interaction was limited to her bouncing on my lap and me talking to her through two mirrors while driving, it was a meaningful and fun night. It was also a great moment for me to realize that parenting and prioritizing time with my daughter is going to take work.
I'm looking forward to times where we will be able to talk, eat, play, laugh, and yes, maybe even cry together on these dates. But, for now, I'll live with the joy of simply having her look at me, hold my finger, and smile.

very cool...and you can't start too young! (but it's much more fun when they can hold a conversation with you!!)
