Progging? Plogging? Blraying?

The 10 days of 24 hour prayer for the Exodus Conference and Maasai Project is underway. There are still slots to be filled, so go sign up now.

Every morning from 8:00-8:30, I have committed to be in prayer for my brother from another mother Caleb, and the team that will be seeking to be salt and light to all of Maasailand. For me, 30 minutes of prayer tends to be filled with moments of intensity and focus, immediately followed by times of distraction, loss for thoughts and words, and weariness.

I've decided I'm going to pray in a little different manner for this 8:00-8:30 slot. I'm going to completely write out my prayers. Whenever possible, I'm going to actually do it on this blog.
I'm not going to take a ton of time to edit these written prayers.
Sometimes it may be written in stream of conscious word for word.
Sometimes it may be in lists.
Sometimes it may be simply scriptures that I'm praying over the team.
But, basically I'll be live blogging my prayer...
I'll call it progging.

My goal is two fold, with a third possible benefit for you...
  1. To give me focus as I pray.
  2. To keep an account of what I've prayed for. I'm looking forward to showing Caleb and the others where God was burdening and calling me to prayer and see where it has collided with where God was stirring and leading them.
  3. To Invite you into my prayer closet. I honestly do not expect you to read through all these prayer posts. In fact, I'd be shocked if anyone except those very engaged in The Maasai Project will. That's really not why I'm doing this. The top two reasons are really why. But, in the process, you are going to get a glimpse into my prayer life.
Now, I know that Jesus instructs us to go into our prayer closet (Matthew 6:6) so as to not be "seen by men". My goal is in no way to boast or show off my prayer life. In fact, my prayer life stinks. It's pretty weak and inconsistent. Instead, I'm hoping that maybe you will be encouraged in how insignificant and simple my prayers might be, but the power of what can happen when our insignificant little prayers connect with a significant calling place one a bunch of insignificant guys by a significant God. It could be pretty fun!
