I went up to the Bethel College area for a meeting, and found out there was going to be several students getting baptized on the campus this afternoon. The school had their "Deeper Life Conference" with Les Beauchamp this past week. As a product of that week, there were several who were burdened/challenged toward taking the step of public confession of faith by being baptized.
So, Dennis Engbrecht ran the show in the 45 degree weather outside the Manges Hall as the 7 individuals stepped into a 110 degree tub. Each briefly shared their story before taking the dip. There was something very Philip and the Ethopian Eunuch about the whole thing.
On my drive home, I took a little time to thank God for the moment I stumbled into this afternoon. It was a powerful reminder of the transforming power of Jesus Christ.
