Heaviness and Hope

From the Elkhart Truth
In a move that has knocked the wind out of Elkhart County, Monaco Coach Corp. announced the closure of plants in Elkhart, Nappanee and Wakarusa and job cuts impacting about 1,400 hourly and salaried workers. (read full story here)
My heart sunk at this news.
Gas prices living at $4 a gallon.

Houses all around me being foreclosed or going up for sale.
An extremely high amount of personal acquaintances are battling through cancer.

My pastor sent out an email today in recognition that there is just a spiritual heaviness. We are in the midst of a Sunday morning series called "The Ultimate Fight". It's looking at the lives of Elijah and Elisha, seeing what happens when impossible situations meet up against an incredible God.
In the midst of all this heaviness, I have incredible hope. I serve a God who thrives in the impossible and tough times. I sense that I'm not alone in this hope. The hunger and desire for God was stronger than ever at camp this year. And it's more about seeking HIM (Jeremiah 29:13, Matthew 6:33) than it is about seeking results or answers. There is an incredible hope welling up in many (especially among students).

So, I have a choice. Do I cling to the HEAVINESS or HOPE?

I recognize the HEAVINESS.
I choose to cling to HOPE.
