Thursdays B.K., A.K., and N.T.J.W.

Thursdays B.K. (Before Katylynn)
  • Sleep in... sometimes until 11:00.
  • Shower after lunch, (sometimes no shower at all).
  • Yankee hat hat day (Wearing my NY Yankees hat for the day. Why? read above point).
  • Lunch from Cook's Pizza.
  • Trip to Movie theater for a matinee, Barnes and Noble for travel book reading, or rent a couple movies and watch them at home.
  • Blog posts (trying to make them non-ministry related).
  • The occassional house and yard work (try to do this on evenings after work or Saturdays)
  • Mental preperation for The Office, Lost, Seinfeld... classically Thursday evening has been the best of the week.
  • Partake in watching said T.V. shows.

Thursdays A.K. (After Katylynn)
  • Still sleep in a little while Janelle gets up with the baby.
  • Tend to shower soon after getting up.
  • Yankee hat day still regularly in effect.
  • Some sort of family event together (on a walk, to the zoo, to the park, etc.)
  • Feeding Katylynn, getting her down for naps, etc.
  • The occasional Thursday movie by myself, or the Thursday movie rental.
  • Katylynn to bed before or right as Thursday television viewing begins.

Thursdays N.T.J.W. (Now that Janelle Works)

  • Up by 8:00 a.m. (when Katylynn is up, today she slept till 9 a.m. Heaven!)
  • Feed, change and get baby ready for day.
  • Playing with Tigger and Pooh.
  • Reading Dr Seuss's ABCs.
  • Rolling the ball back and forth.
  • Weekly road trip (today it was to drop off Janelle's bike and Red Box for a movie).
  • Movie and internet time during morning and afternoon naps.
  • Swing time in the back yard.
  • Katylynn to bed before The Office is on!

Of the three Thursdays observed, I thought the phase I'm in right now would be great, but not much of a day off. In all reality, I'm loving it. I feel like there has been some pretty special Daddy/Daughter bonding that has taken place.

Well, it's time to play a little peek-a-boo.

Isn't it interesting how a child can change your life like that, and you don't even care? If someone would call or stop by and interrupt your day like that, I'd be ticked and disappointed that they threw off what I wanted to do, but for my kids or wife, I'll throw my schedule out anytime. I love my TV, movies, video games, and other stuff...but none hold a candle to seeing my kids smile when they have my undivided attention. Nice job, Dad!

So funny. And very true.
