Creativity Part 4 ... More Builders

Read Fiction - Fiction is "made up"... "created". Novels, short stories, comic books, screenplays... Whatever you find somewhat enjoyable. Reading does something to your brain that watching can't do.

Ask "What If?" Two of the most powerful words that have unleashed some of the best "moments" for us at NMC. It's a risky question sometimes, but it is the avenue through which great things happen.

Take Ideas and adapt
- There is very little "original" content out there. Most of my projects and ideas have launched through taking an idea and adapting it. For instnace, our recent "Elephant in the Room" series was a hybrid adaptation of a series done by Mark Batterson at National Community Church and a "pink elephant" promo deal that xxxchurch does. We worked up our own logo and tweaked a few things to best work for us.
Now, a little disclaimer... there's a fine line between inspiration and plagarism. A few thoughts...
1. Give credit where credit is due.
2. Adapt so it fit's best in your situation. In the process, it becomes more your's than their's.
3. If you are questioning your integrity, don't do it.
4. Seek permission when you deem valuable.
