Wednesday Night, the students voted, and here's the topics for our next five weeks (not necesarrily in this order)...What's the deal with ______________?
Here's how we'll fill in the blank...
1. Stress & Depression
2. God's Will
3. Spiritual Growth
4. Swearing & Cussing
5. Entertainment
We're continuing to work on some more details, but we are really excited on the potential of this series.
My personal goal is to make sure this isn't a "loophole series."
What I mean by that is that as we go into addressing topics in this manner, we can be tempted to find a way to fit God into our box, or maybe a way to get things to work exactly the way we want them to. I'm interested in talking about stress and depression because I want to find a way that it's okay for me to sin in my emotional lows, or I want to talk the gray areas of entertainment so I can say, "The pastor said it's okay for me to watch R-rated movies!"
We look for the loophole.
Instead, I'm committed to make this a "more" series. A More series asks, "What can we learn through these topics that will put us in a position to know, serve, and/or love God more tomorrow than we do today?"
I want to ask that same question personally much more in 2009 than I have in the past.

There were three other topics that came in 6,7,8 in voting so close to #5, we decided to do something different. We're stretching the series to 7 weeks so we can cover...
6. Sharing your faith
7. Drinking& Alcohol
...and in March we are going to be doing a 3-week series titled "Homeland Security?" It will be a look at living out our faith at home with parents and family (#6 in voting)... pumped up!
