- Super Bowl XXXVI - The New England Patriots and this backup QB named Tom Brady upset the St Louis Ram's "greatest show on turf". I remember I was actually excited for Tom Brady. Not so much anymore. Plus, let's be honest, Adam Vinatieri is the real hero of those first 2 Super Bowls (I have no bias at all)!
- U2 at Halftime - U2 and Paul McCartney performed at the Super Bowl Halftime. They did a tribute to those killed in the 9/11 attacks. It's the only halftime show I've really enjoyed.
- American Idol Debuts - Justin and Kelly. Simon. Didn't watch that season, but man, it was big.
- Sequels take over - Top 5 films were Lord of the Rings: Two Towers, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Spiderman, Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones, and Men In Black 2. Note: Only one non-sequel, and that one became a trilogy later.
- Beltway Sniper - This one was really creepy. Especially when it was discovered that the killers were an adult and a 16 year old working together.
- Winter Olympics - Salt Lake City. Blah. Never really get into the Winter Games.
- Iraq Tensions Mount - We were fighting the War on Terror in Afghanistan, and Iraq became a focus because of potential Weapons of Mass Destruction. The U.N. went after them (with our strong push).
- No Child Left Behind - It was signed into law.
- Lance Armstrong - He won his 4th Tour de France. He has to be mentioned in one of these 10s, and since I'm struggling on this one, I'lll give him the mention here.
- The Truth is Out there? The X-Files ended. I'm not sure anything was truly resolved.

10 for the 2000s: Oh Boy it's '02
To be honest... looking back on this year, it seemed to be a little slow in my book of significant events (meaning ones that stuck out to me). I've struggled to come up with 10.

It's very interesting that you were excited for Tom Brady the first year he won a Super Bowl, but not now. He's still a former sixth-round pick and part-time starter at Michigan. What's changed for you?
(yes, I'm stirring up trouble)
I was cheering for a someone I knew very little about, and I'm almost always a sucker for the underdog.
It would be better stated that at this point I'm not a Tom Brady fan.
Why? Let me count the reasons.
1. Rivalry - At that point there was not a rivalry between the Colts and the Patriots. Now that there is, there's a level of disdain that naturally develops.
2. Professionally - His stats and accomplishments are impressive, but I must say I think he's become much more jerky on the field. Watching his demeanor in press conferences rubs me wrong. The biggest struggle I have is the numerous times I have seen him go off on a referee... and not like questioning a call, but ripping into them. I just see a lot of actions that seem smug/ arrogant.
3. Personally - There are several things that have been glorified in Brady's personal life that really tick me off.
2 and 3 are my more quantifiable reasons, and I'm sure it could be argued that 1 is the real reason and I'd be fine if he was on the Colts.
The only problem is that there are Colts players I'm not a big fan of. Pierre Garcon would be one. Too cocky and demonstrative after big plays. He's doing a great job on the feel, but not a fan of his professionalism.
Okay, I've written too much over something too little. I'm done.
