A Pretty Cool Phone Call

Tonight at Wednesday Night youth, we gave Corey a call on my cell phone... as he was heading home from the hospital!!

Absolutely miraculous. Saturday night, I went to bed thinking I may likely be involved in a funeral this week. Instead, Corey's at home tonight back to his "normal" life!

Corey just posted a note over on his caringbridge site. Here are some of his words. I love the heart of this kid...

Hi this is Corey it has been a very busy day today and I just woke up from a nap. I want to say a quick "THANK YOU FOR AAAAALLLLL THE SUPPPPPOOOORRRTTT you have giving me and my mom and dad.

Thank you for all the comments, my mom and dad have read everyone of them to me. Give God All The Glory!!! God must have a big plan for me He must not be done with me yet. My dad does not normally just open up the Bible and read it. but he wanted hear from Jesus' own words so he went to John and for no reason at all he went to Chapter 11. In verse 4 it says "...He said, " this sickness is not unto death but for the glory of God, that the Son of God my be Glorified through it."

Wow, that was perfect!

• I've been checking more into lifechurch.tv and Craig Groeschel since Leadership Summit. They are currently going through a series called, "So you're dead, now what?" This past Sunday, the topic was hell. Good, tough teaching. There was some light bulbs as I watched. Watch it here.

I just got done visiting Corey along with some of our junior guys. He was fully coherent, sitting up and talking with us like normal.

The doctor confirms no brain damage. an absolute miracle as, late Saturday night, the neurologist told James and Sherri it was likely he was brain dead.

As we sat around talking, several times corey made the statement, "God raised me from the dead."
He told us he can't wait to share his story with others!

I'm blown away. I have truly witnessed the miraculous over the past few days. As we were leaving the nurse came in to transfer Corey out of ICU into normal pediatric wing.

We continue to pray for a quick release and also that Corey has had his last seizure.

Update on Corey

COREY WOKE UP!

He is responding coherently and is answering questions by blinking his eyes. He wrote his address out, as well as the words "sweet" and "thank you" when James and Sherri were explaining what's been happening and the support he's been receiving. When James told Corey he'd turn on Spongebob when it comes on, Corey got excited

At the moment, there seems to be no brain damage!

I just got off the phone with James, and Corey is currently sleeping. He is still on the ventilator, but the Doctor will be seeing him soon, and they believe they are going to take it out!

God is good! Keep praying, the signs are very positive, but nothing is official.

At this point, it is best that Corey not receive a lot of visitors. So, let's get a ton of people over to the site and leave him a note of encouragement.

Update on Corey

Just got done spending time with Corey and James & Sherri.
he's heavily sedated. lungs look to be clearing up. not checking for brain damage till they're confident about lungs.

He definitely seemed to know we were in the room. as we prayed over Him he fidgeted around and had other slight movements as we talked.

We're (Terry, Jason, and I) are praying for clear lungs and consciousness in the next 24 hours. join us in that prayer!

More News On Corey

Corey is still on a ventilator. There is fluid in his lungs. To the doctors, getting his lungs back to normal is the priority. There's no indication on the level of brain activity.

Would you simply stop now and join me and many others who are praying that our incredible God would do something mighty in this impossible situation?

Heavy Text - Urgent Prayer Request

I received this text as well as a voice mail this evening that I wanted to post up here so other may be in prayer...

Corey Ellis was at a water park this evening and had a seizure while in the hot tub. By the time he was found, he had been underwater for at least 2 minutes. He is still unconscious and is being airlifted to Fort Wayne.

Pray for Corey.
