American Idol
When it comes to American Idol's first few episodes... I love them, no I hate them.
Some of my biggest laughs come from the early episodes of each season... William Hung, Skat Girl, people forgetting the words, "it's the other door", the cowardly lion lady from Tuesday Night.
I've even made videos of some of the worst to show on Wednesday Nights.
Yet, over the past two seasons of this show, an internal battle has begun to rise in me. One of my biggest frustrations inside our ministry is when students find enjoyment in mocking other's shortcomings...
...picking on the little guy.
...laughing at the person with the speech impedement.
...mocking the "ugly girl."
That type of stuff will set me off. Reading Kurt Johnston's thoughts only confirm a little bit of what I've been thinking.
I'm not trying to throw stones at anyone watching the show. I'm just seeing a little bit of an integrity glitch in my own convictions and what I'm finding "entertainment" in.
