"I think we have replaced MTV. MySpace is more convenient. You can search for things, while MTV is just delivering things to you. On MySpace you can pick your own channel and go where you want. That's why TV viewership is dropping among the MySpace generation. I started using the Internet in 1999. That was pretty late. But as soon as I did I just stopped watching TV. The idea of sitting down and waiting for a TV show at a certain time, I couldn't do this anymore. The Internet is a better form of entertainment to me.”

I found this quote on Walt Mueller's site (cpyu.org Center For Parent/Youth Understanding). It's a great site from a Christ Following Sociologist. In 2005, a significant shift took place in Youth Culture. Until then, students primary media input was television. It has now become the internet. (article on change here)
The implications of this shift are significant. I've seen it... there is much less of a desire to sit and watch, and a deeper desire to interact, control, choose your adventure.
Parents, teachers, youth workers, anyone who is seeking to invest in the lives of teenagers... consider these implications.
