Movie Day

So I went to Spidey 3 today. Thanks to going in with low expectations, I was able to enjoy it. Some thoughts:
  • The whole "enemy within" theme was by far the best part of the movie. The inner battle of Peter Parker is what sets Spiderman apart from other superheros.
  • The Sandman character was by far the worst part of the movie.
  • To further my previous point, I don't think it was so much the Sandman character as much as it was just the whole "too many cooks" deal. Sandman was the least intriguing.
  • The cheese factor of the song/dance routines was high, but livable.
  • Great action scenes.
  • The humor was very forced. Nothing brought out natural laughter... the best was a "that's funny" thought running through my head.
  • Not about the movie, but the theater was absolutely filthy for the 3:45 show. I love Showplace 16 for movies, this is really the first time they've disappointed me. They've built up a lot in my grace bank, so I can let one bad experience slide easily.
I know most anybody reading this has likely already seen it, but if you want to see it, go in with low expectations. If you aren't overly excited, wait for the DVD.

Michelle, Trace, and I went to see it last Saturday afternoon (I think it was the 2:45 show) and I wasn't impressed with the cleanliness, also. I also love Showplace, but for the first time was somewhat disappointed in the place. But, one redeeming factor is that Showplace is very active in community philanthropic efforts. They are involved in some really cool stuff that most people are unware of.
