Unanswered Prayer Part 6 - Stone or Bread?

Entire Series here.

In 2001, I went to the Elkhart County Prayer Breakfast and heard Darrell Scott speak. Darrel is the father of Rachel Scott, the first student murdered in the 1999 Columbine High School shootings.
Upon hearing the news of His daughter's death, the "why?" question had to be wrestled through. Darrell said it was especially tough considering his prayers that God would watch over Rachel and use her in mighty ways. He explained how God had led him to this passage of scripture when he was driving to the school the day of the shootings...
"Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you. For everyone who asks receives; he who seeks finds; and to him who knocks, the door will be opened.
"Which of you, if his son asks for bread, will give him a stone? Or if he asks for a fish, will give him a snake? If you, then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give good gifts to those who ask him!
Matthew 7:7-11

Darrell explained that looking back, it was as if God was saying to him, "Darrell, this may look like a stone and you asked for bread... but trust me, it's bread."

Fast forward to today where Rachel's story has been shared with millions. I sat in a gym while hundreds responded to receive Christ after hearing Darrell share Rachel's story.

God had answered his prayer and desires in ways he had not expected.

Is it possible that my prayer has been answered, but it just doesn't look like it?

Isaiah 55
8 "For my thoughts are not your thoughts, neither are your ways my ways," declares the LORD.

9 "As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.
