Saturdawg

It was a great day. 25 students who took 6 hours on a Saturday and got alone with God. We had plenty of space for students to spread out and stay warm alone with Go, plenty of food to eat alone with God, plenty of resources to dive into alone with God, and plenty of activities to do alone with God.

Some snapshots:
  • Several students picked up a book from our stack of options and read all the way through it... included were The Irresistible Revolution, Soul Cravings, and The Barbarian Way.
  • One Student took time to journal and recount a journal in detail a significant life lesson God has been teaching him.
  • Several Jr. High students were there. We planned a break at lunch time because we weren't sure how they could stay focused for the full 6 hours. After about 20 minutes, the students asked Dustin (our Jr. High intern) if they could get back out on their own!
  • A couple of students took a nap during the time... which is something we gave as an option, but letting that nap be a time of resting in God.
At the close of the time, we pulled everyone together to share about their experience. The room was full of excitement, surprise and joy. For most, this was the first time spending an extended time alone with God. For many, this was a very positive experience. For some, their lives will never be the same because of last Saturday!

Can we do this for grown-ups? Sounds amazing and I am inspired... ~Leslie
