This was originally posted July 3, 2006 (about 1000 posts ago). Although the news reference is dated, I find it to resonate again this morning...
4th of July... Fireworks, beaches and hot dogs. Also, birthdate of a significant person in my life... my dad.
I was watching our local news last night (something I rarely do), and they went into the community to ask people what this holiday commemerates. Several didn't know. Of course, it is in honor of the signing of the Declaration of Independance in 1776.
Declaration of Independance. A very good thing. Something I'm grateful for. I'm proud to be an American in most every way. Yet, I can't help but wonder if this Decleration in our American world today has spread beyond the borders of our land and society and into our hearts and souls.
Today, I would like to post my Declaration of "In Dependance":
I Declare that I am a mess, and I am "In Dependance" of a Savior who has paid a penalty on Calvary in my place.
I Declare that I can't make it in this live without guidance, and I am "In Dependance" of the Holy Spirit's direction.
I Declare declare that I have nothing to offer this world by myself, and I am "In Dependance" of the Holy Spirit's power.
I Declare that I am a helpless child, and I am "In Dependance" of a Heavenly Father who will watch over and discipline me.
I Declare that I am not enough, and I am "In Dependance" of a community of people whose heart beats for the Kingdom of God.
I Declare that I am not, but I'm "In Dependance" of the I AM.
EXODUS 3
13 Moses said to God, "Suppose I go to the Israelites and say to them, 'The God of your fathers has sent me to you,' and they ask me, 'What is his name?' Then what shall I tell them?"
14 God said to Moses, "I am who I am . This is what you are to say to the Israelites: 'I AM has sent me to you.'"
