My Bold Prediction

I'm not superstitious.
I am a Cubs fatalist... and as much as I want to believe otherwise, I seem to lean toward that fate being DOOMED.

I want to get my hopes up, but as we stare at century without a World Series Championship, it's hard.

YET, are the stars aligning?
Battling for best record in the MLB.
Intelligent and powerful hitters.
Zambrano, Harden, Dempster... nice 1, 2, 3, punch.
As I type this, the Cubs sit at a magic number of 4 to clinch a playoff bid. They are in the 11th against the Brewers. The win would take them down to 2.
It IS year 100.

The Tampa Bay Rays (relatively new team) have been the laughing stock of MLB. They are putting it all together and are almost guaranteed a playoff bid.

As I look at the lay of the land, I'd like to make a bold prediction...

Tampa Bay Rays and Chicago Cubs face of in the World Series. It's only fitting that the team with no playoff appearance ever (TB) play the role of potential spoiler to the "cursed" Cubbies.
TB goes up 3-0 in games. Cubs come back to 3-3 as it goes to game 7.
I refuse to predict beyond, I may have done something to mess them up already.

My name is Derry.
I'm a Cub fatalist.
I hope my understanding of their fate is wrong.

I feel you, I really do. But this year I have a different perspective.
