10 for the 2000s: 2006

1. Winter Olympics in Turin - Once again, ehhh.
2. Next Generation Game Systems - Xbox 360, PS 3, and Nintendo Wii come out, and are constantly sold out at stores.
3. Saddam Hussein Executed - The humanity and eternity of it all messed with me.
4. Movies - The top 5 grossing were Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest, The Da Vinci Code, Ice Age: the Meltdown, Casino Royale, and Night at the Museum. I can't say that I found a single one of those movies to be enjoyable. #6 was Cars. I liked that movie a lot.
5. The Year of You. Time Magazine had a copout in naming You the person of the year for 2006. But, it made sense in that User-generated content hit full stride in '06 with Facebook, Myspace, Youtube, and blogs hitting mainstream and going huge.
6. Krikey, it's a tragedy. Steve Irwin dies tragically from, of all things, a stingray stabbing him in the heart.
7. Amish School Shooting. Charles Roberts shot and killed 5 amish school children in Lancaster County, PA. The Amish community responded by forgiving the shooter.
   
8. No More Pluto. The scientific community decided that Pluto was no longer a planet. The jerks.
9. The Best of Both Worlds: A little show starts on the Disney Channel called Hannah Montana.
   
10. Jason McElwain. It's still the best sports story I think I've ever seen.
