- India on my Own: I headed back to India for Family Camp. It was the first overseas trip without Janelle since we were married. It was also the first major trip away from my daughter. Oddly enough, it's tougher to leave them both now than it was the first time.
- Kenya Dig It! Kenya Night was the follow up to Rwanda Night. The students raised over $25,000 to be split between the Kenya Baby Center and the Maasai Project.
- Haircut: I let my hair grow out leading into Kenya Night, and auctioned off a haircut. For $200 somebody gave me a mullet.
- Mustache May: A couple of graduating Seniors threw out the challenge to grow out a mustache all through May. Several adults joined in. In the end, I was the only one who went the whole month. The original two did nothing.
- Swallowing Pride: We bought a minivan. Our two-door car was pointless with a daughter. Upgrading to an SUV seemed frivolous. Considering where gas prices went, I'm happy with our choice.
- Spring Break in Michigan: We spent 5 days in Ludington. Some of that time was spent with my mom and dad. Memories I will cherish.
- It's Official: The adoption of Katylynn Ivy Prenkert was finalized.
- Mexico: We took a team to Mexico for our IMPACT trip. I was away from Katylynn for my first Father's Day. It was tough, but it was a great trip.
- Katylynn Meets Minnie: We took our first big vacation together to Florida in December '08. Daytona and Orlando. Katylynn met Minnie. Great memories.
- The First Annual Winter Retreat: We took nearly 250 students and leaders to Evart, Michigan for our Winter Retreat at SpringHill Camps. It was a great time, other than the super nasty flu virus that hit in the last 24 hours and took out about 30 students and leaders, and then hit many more after we returned home!
