10 for the 2000s: In the year 2000 personally

Here are my personal life memories/highlights of 2000:
  1. Getting Married: Pretty big deal. Pretty major life upgrade in my case. I'm so glad I did 2000, makes it easier for me to remember how many years I've been married.
  2. Honeymoon: Palm Springs, CA. Sparing major details, Janelle and I realized there was going to be great value in us getting away from it all to really focus on each other/ our family.
  3. Janelle gets a job: Janelle spent 2000 working at Bethel College as an Admissions Counselor. It was a good job. The travel there and back stunk.
  4. Officially Moving Out: After graduation from college in 1999, I moved back home for a year and worked at NMC. Janelle and I decided it would be best to get our own place when we got married, so we got an apartment. Spent a year at Orchard Park Farms. We loved that place (except for going into town to do laundry).
  5. SEMP 2000: Headed to Toronto for this evangelism training trip. First trip Janelle and I led together.
  6. Summer Getaway: In 1999, we did an overnight trip to Cedar Point with our Senior High with a dream we might be able to some day do our own Summer Camp. In 2000, we took it one step closer with a 3 night getaway that included some worship and sessions. It was the beginning of something significant in NMC Student Ministries Ethos.
  7. Speaking at BC Chapel: I spoke at Bethel College Chapel the day after the election. I'm sure everybody was very focused in on what I had to share. It was an honor to go back and speak at a place that was so instrumental in my spiritual formation and calling.
  8. Paying Bills: Rent, College Loans, Car Insurance... man that was a learning curve.
  9. Ethics Lesson: I don't know why I remember this so well, but our Apartment had cable in it, and we hadn't payed for it. I guess the previous residents had it and the company never came out to disconnect it. I remember being really excited about this freebie, but then wrestling through my responsibility to report this. We ended up calling the cable company, and they came out and disconnected it... 6 months later.
  10. Video Editing: I learned computer video editing on Adobe Premiere. I got hooked. It was a great outlet for my creative juices. Our pride and joy was "Billy" videos; which featured Shawn LaRue as a nose-picking dolt that would constantly get beat up. Good times!
