60 Days of Beauty: Day 41 - Thinking Beyond Self

Yesterday morning included opportunity for met to sit down with two different groups.

The first was a group of High School and Junior High Students who have decided they want to do something to spread awareness and raise support to help free modern day slaves. The idea is outside the box and really exciting. I'll be explaining more in the days to come, but it was so awesome to see students caring outside of themselves and wanting to be a part of something bigger than their own little world.

The second was a group of parents.  We had pulled them together to talk about some specific things we are working through inside Student Ministries.  We wanted to put on our listening ears and hear perspective from them, and allow us to potentially see things through their eyes.  What was very exciting was the how many times parents spoke through the lens of their specific child, but then put down those "glasses" and wore the "glasses" of what might be best for all involved.

In both cases, it was a beautiful encounter with the Body of Christ being the Body of Christ.

Philippians 2:3-4
Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.
