Last week Janelle mentioned to me that the corner of our kitchen ceiling was making a strange humming noise. I didn't notice it, and didn't think much more about it. After I left home this morning, I got a call from my lovely wife letting me know that she heard the noise again. She reached up to touch the ceiling only to discover a square foot section drywall had been completely eaten away by something, and all that was left was the paper and paint.
I'm not the smartest person when it comes to home maintenance, but I knew this wasn't a good thing. She put a call into the exterminator, who promptly came out.
What did we find out?
Bees. Yellow Jackets to be precise. They had nested outside and had made their way into our attic. The exterminator said that we were probably within a day or so of our buzzing friends breaking through the ceiling.
Phew! Now, the sad thing is, as Janelle is telling me about this, I can only picture one thing...
