Tim Timmons this Wednesday Night

I'm incredibly excited to have Tim Timmons joining us this Wednesday Night in Senior High for a night of worship.  Tim's story is fantastic, his heart is genuine, and his style is engaging.

About Tim's current Album Project:

"Cast My Cares" is a song off the new album:

It's 7:00 p.m. in the Fieldhouse. I'm also excited that about 44 of our students and adults will be joining Tim and a power-packed lineup at the conVERGE Student Leadership Conference. in Gull, Michigan this weekend.

Here's an Awesome Dad!

One goal I have is to consistently have my kids call me a two syllable name.  When young, I want to hear "Daddy".   When they get into adolescence and the teen years I want to see Dad become a two syllable word.  I had them.  It was those times where my dad would do something incredibly goofy or embarrassing in an effort to get me laughing.  I would look at him and say "Da-ad."  I'm not talking about making your kids feel ashamed of you.  I'm talking about those moments where, as marko says, they may be saying, "Dad, you're such a dork," they are really saying, "Dad, I love you."

Well Dave Price is my hero.  I've seen the story in multiple spots, but basically Dale caught on that his 15 year old son Rain's bus route would run back by his house after he boarded.  So, what does any caring stay-at-home Dad do?  He decides to come up with 170 different outfits to where for each day of school, stand outside as his son passes on a bus full of peers, and wave.  For example:

Check out http://waveatthebus.blogspot.com (blog done by Dale's wife) for a post on each day.  This video shows every day of pictures as well:

If you're a dad reading this, may you find ways that you can be a fool for your kids that makes memories and reminds them that they are loved!

Youtubesday: Gungor

It's been a while since I posted some Youtube Videos.  Today is a music edition of a band I've been listening to quite a bit.  Gungor's Liturgical post-rock has me completely hooked.

About Gungor:

The Earth is Yours in a Forest (the album version is one of Katylynn's favorite songs.  It's awesome to watch her dance and sing the chorus)

White Man (fairly controversial, I guess, but extremely Biblical, I'd say):

You Have Me (a great prayer)

Shane Claiborne

I've mentioned before that I'll be doing a new weekly show on the webstation Remedy.fm starting this Sunday at 7:30. If you're unfamiliar with Remedy, they are a fantastic online ministry to teens. They are utilizing music, the language of this generation, to generate a discussion on the ultimate need for a savior.  There are multiple nightly and weekly shows they do to accomplish this mission.  One of those shows is Backstage Pass, where they sit down with popular Christian artists to hear their stories and what God has done in their life.  A few weeks back they strayed from the script of having musicians and had author and revolutionary Shane Claiborne on.  I find Shane's message to be so refreshing and challenging.  Maybe if you watch this you will find the same.

Youtubesday: Rhett and Link

It's almost guaranteed these guys will make me laugh when I watch their videos.

This is some great advice for the Social Media conscious single guys out there:

This had me grabbing me stomach and almost in tears. There's something about guys laughing at what their own attempts at comedy that gets me laughing.

This is from 1994 on the Today Show.  I bet Bryant Gumbel and Katie Couric wouldn't mind if this went away...

The Reality of Child Trafficking

There are some pretty amazing organizations out there seeking to put an end to modern day slavery.  Love146 is one that has always gripped me because of the story how they got their name.  Watch this, and try not to be moved to action.

My New Favorite Song

My mind and heart has been in Uganda a lot lately.  Since our 2nd child received a gender, a face, and a name, I long to get him home with us.

Last week, my friend Corey gave me a great opportunity to attend The Story of Your Life Tour with Jonny Diaz, Josh Wilson and Matthew West.  The main reason Corey asked me to come was because of a song on Matthew's New Album, The Story of Your Life.  Matthew asked fans to send him their life stories.  He received 10,000.  He went to a cabin for two months, and out of the stories came up with 11 songs inspired by the stories.

One of the stories was about an international adoption.  As Matthew shared the story and then the song, a smile came on my face and tears had to be held back, because it hit the heart of the "One Life at A Time" theme that ties to our little guy joining our family.  Enjoy the tune, and go out and buy the album.  I recommend the deluxe version with the videos explaining the story behind each song.

Youtubesday: Mad Movie Wednesday

We have 2 High School students who are doing an internship with us from the school.  As a part of their internship, they have been put in charge of doing Wednesday announcements.  As a part of that, they have done "spoofs" of various films and utilizing them to tell our announcements.  This one they did was incredibly creative...

We Know You Hurt, Because We Hurt

Geoff has been doing a fantastic job at utilizing media on our Senior High Wednesday Night gatherings. This video was used in correlation with our current "To Save a Life" series. It was to set up his message called "Is Life worth living? Is life worth Giving?" It featured our leaders walking through the reality that they have had to face hurts in their life.
